AB300,1,2 1An Act relating to: increasing funding for domestic abuse grants and making
2an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Children and Families makes grants to
nonprofit corporations, public agencies, and American Indian tribes or bands
(organizations) to provide domestic abuse services, including shelter facilities,
advocacy and counseling, 24-hour telephone service, and community education.
This bill increases the funding that may be provided to organizations for the listed
domestic abuse services by $2,000,000 of general purpose revenue in each fiscal year
of this biennium.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB300,1 3Section 1. Fiscal changes.
AB300,2,74 (1) Domestic abuse grants. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the
5statutes for the appropriation to the department of children and families under
6section 20.437 (1) (cd) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 2013, the dollar

1amount is increased by $2,000,000 for the first fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in
2which this subsection takes effect for the purposes for which the appropriation is
3made. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation
4to the department of children and families under section 20.437 (1) (cd) of the
5statutes, as affected by the acts of 2013, the dollar amount is increased by $2,000,000
6for the second fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in which this subsection takes effect
7for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.
