SJR80,1,32 Whereas, Bruce Dahmen was born on June 2, 1952, in Madison, Wisconsin, and
3died on February 11, 2014, in Knoxville, Tennessee; and
SJR80,1,6   4Whereas, Bruce began his long and distinguished career as an educator and
5high school principal at James Madison Memorial High School in Madison,
6Wisconsin, where he was hired in 1974; and
SJR80,1,107 Whereas, Bruce affected the lives of countless young people as a business and
8marketing teacher for 23 years, assistant principal for eight years, building principal
9for the last nine years, and coach of a cumulative 76 seasons in baseball, basketball,
10and football; and
SJR80,1,12   11Whereas, in 2004 Bruce earned the Madison Metropolitan School District's
12Distinguished Service Award; and
SJR80,1,15   13Whereas, Bruce was recognized by colleagues and professional organizations
14on several occasions for his excellence as an educator, impact as a coach, and impact
15on students' lives; and

  1Whereas, Bruce was an ever-present fixture at Memorial events over the past
240 years and was loved by the students so much that, in 2006, they named their
3first-ever mascot "Bruce"; and
SJR80,2,6   4Whereas, Bruce benefited greatly throughout his life and career from the
5strong love and support of his wife, Peggi Dahmen, and sons, Tyler Dahmen and
6Justin Dahmen, all of Madison, Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
SJR80,2,10 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Bruce Dahmen
9contributed to his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their
10condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
SJR80,2,12 11Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
12resolution to Bruce's wife, Peggi, and to his sons, Tyler and Justin Dahmen.
