AB189,1,3 1An Act to amend 6.36 (1) (b) 1. a.; and to create 6.36 (1) (am) of the statutes;
2relating to: authorizing Wisconsin to enter into agreements to share
3information related to the registration and voting of electors.

This bill requires the chief election officer to enter into the Interstate Voter
Registration Data Crosscheck Program, an agreement with a group of states to share
data and information related to the registration and voting of electors in this state
and the other participating states for the purpose of maintaining this state's
statewide voter registration list.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB189,1 4Section 1. 6.36 (1) (am) of the statutes is created to read:
AB189,2,65 6.36 (1) (am) The chief election officer shall annually enter into a memorandum
6of understanding and agreement with the chief election officers of other states for the
7purpose of participating in the Interstate Voter Registration Data Crosscheck
8Program. Under the agreement, the chief election officer shall transfer information

1and data related to the registration and voting of electors in this state to the other
2signatories of the memorandum of understanding in order to maintain the official
3registration list under this section. The chief election officer shall ensure that any
4agreement entered into under this paragraph safeguards the confidentiality of
5information or data in the registration list to which access is restricted under par. (b)
61. a. and that is transferred as provided under this paragraph.

AB189,2,168 6.36 (1) (b) 1. a. Except as provided in pars. (am), (bm), and (bn), no person other
9than an employee of the board, a county clerk, a deputy county clerk, an executive
10director of a county board of election commissioners, a deputy designated by the
11executive director, a municipal clerk, a deputy municipal clerk, an executive director
12of a city board of election commissioners, or a deputy designated by the executive
13director may view the date of birth, operator's license number, or social security
14account number of an elector, the address of an elector to whom an identification
15serial number is issued under s. 6.47 (3), or any indication of an accommodation
16required under s. 5.25 (4) (a) to permit voting by an elector.
