AB89,1,2 1An Act relating to: grants for farm to school programs and making an
2appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law authorizes the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer
Protection to make grants for programs to connect schools with nearby farms to
provide children with locally produced foods, provide nutritional and agricultural
education, and improve farmers' incomes. The 2013-15 budget act, 2013 Wisconsin
Act 20
, did not provide funding for these farm to school grants. This bill provides
funding for farm to school grants in fiscal years 2015-16 and 2016-17.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
