AJR32,1,3 Relating to: honoring the life and contributions of former Secretary of Administration and Chairman of the BMO Harris Bradley Center, Marc Marotta.

AJR32,1,4 Whereas, Marc Marotta died unexpectedly on April 8, 2015, at the age of 52; and

AJR32,1,6 Whereas, Marc Marotta served the state of Wisconsin in many capacities throughout his career; and

AJR32,1,10 Whereas, Marc Marotta, who grew up in Pittsburgh, played basketball for Marquette University from 1980 to 1984, was a three-time Academic All-American, and is described by those who knew him as the embodiment of the true-student athlete; and

AJR32,1,12 Whereas, Marc Marotta was selected by the New York Knicks in the 1984 NBA draft, but chose to attend Harvard Law School, earning his law degree in 1987; and

AJR32,1,15 Whereas, he was a passionate advocate for charitable organizations and demonstrated tremendous leadership both socially and civically in the state of Wisconsin, and nationally; and

AJR32,2,3 Whereas, he was a partner and attorney at Foley and Lardner LLP, and served on the boards for Summerfest and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee; and

AJR32,2,6 Whereas, he served as secretary of the Department of Administration from January 2003 to October 2005 under Governor Jim Doyle, and was an advisor to other Wisconsin democrats; and

AJR32,2,8 Whereas, Marc Marotta was the chairman of the board of directors for the BMO Harris Bradley Center; and

AJR32,2,10 Whereas, Marc Marotta was an amazing ally to the Milwaukee Bucks and even greater friend to the Milwaukee community; and

AJR32,2,12 Whereas, he could have chosen to make anywhere his home, but he felt a special connection to our great state; and

AJR32,2,14 Whereas, Marc was a loving husband to Kim, and father to Karley, Cameron, Chloe, and McKenna; now, therefore, be it

AJR32,2,16 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature salutes Marc Marotta's public service and mourns his passing; and, be it further

AJR32,2,18 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to his wife Kim and their four children.
