Whereas, Jerry Bowe died at the age of 83 on December 31, 2015; and

Whereas, Jerry was born and raised in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and attended
5Cudahy High School; and

Whereas, Jerry received his bachelor's degree from the University of
7Wisconsin-Whitewater and taught at East Troy High School and West Allis Central
8High School before returning to his hometown to take the job of his dreams as head
9football coach and teacher at Cudahy High School; and

Whereas, Jerry revived the Cudahy High School football program in the early
111970s and led it to incredible success, including 17 winning seasons, for the 23 years
12prior to his retirement in 1991; and

Whereas, Jerry was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Hall of Fame in 1996;

1Whereas, Jerry had an eye for coaching talent and hired staff of four future
2Wisconsin Football Hall of Fame coaches; and

Whereas, after Jerry's retirement, he remained in Cudahy to watch his children
4and grandchildren attend Cudahy High School and watch their football games; and

Whereas, Jerry created a legacy of football coaching and educating in his family,
6and his grandson now coaches the Cudahy football team; and

Whereas, Jerry was a loving husband for 58 years to LaDonna Casey, father to
8Betsy, Dylan, Kelly, and Debby, and grandfather to ten grandchildren; now,
9therefore, be it

10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature
11salutes Gerald "Jerry" Bowe's public service and mourns his passing; and

12Be it further resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of
13this joint resolution to his wife, LaDonna, and their four children.
