AR28,1,42 Whereas, Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr. was a brilliant lawyer and judge
3who devoted his life to working to make the city of Milwaukee a better place to live
4for all; and
AR28,1,85 Whereas, Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr. graduated from Marquette
6University Law School in 1967 and was hired as a prosecutor, serving as the only
7African American in the District Attorney's office until he left the office in 1969, and
8was regarded by many as one of that office's brightest legal minds; and
AR28,1,129 Whereas, Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr. was appointed to the Milwaukee
10School Board in 1970 and was elected its president the following year, becoming the
11first African American to serve in that role until his departure from the board in
121972; and
AR28,2,213 Whereas, Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr. was appointed by Governor Patrick
14Lucey to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 1973, becoming only the second

1African American judge in the state, and served as a judge for Milwaukee County
2until 1985; and
AR28,2,73 Whereas, Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr., following his tenure on the bench,
4became senior staff attorney for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and
5during his employment with the MMSD was appointed a "special master" by a
6federal judge monitoring overcrowding in the county jail where he continued his
7service to the city of Milwaukee and all Milwaukee County; now, therefore, be it
AR28,2,13 8Resolved by the assembly, That Representative Kessler, on behalf of the
9Wisconsin Assembly, under Assembly Rule 97, hereby offers his thanks for the
10service of Honorable Harold B. Jackson Jr. in making the city of Milwaukee and
11Milwaukee County a better place to live for all, and offers his condolences to his
12family, including his wife, Kathleen, three daughters, Julia, Tiffany, and Jaime, and
13son, Bryan.
