SB251,1,2 1An Act to amend 14.86 (1) (b) and (c) of the statutes; relating to: terms of office

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law adopts the midwest interstate passenger rail compact and creates
a Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. Among the members of the
commission are one representative to the assembly, appointed by the speaker of the
assembly for a two-year term, and one senator appointed by the president of the
senate for a two-year term. The compact, as enacted into state law, specifies that the
members of the commission must include two legislators, one from each house, who
shall serve two-year terms, or until successors are appointed.
This bill clarifies that the legislative members of the commission serve
two-year terms, or until successors are appointed.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
