SB607,1,2 An Act to create 301.28 (3) of the statutes; relating to: training for newly hired correctional officers.

This bill requires the Department of Corrections to ensure that each newly hired correctional officer receives at least four weeks of on-the-job training.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB607,1 Section 1. 301.28 (3) of the statutes is created to read:

SB607,1,6 301.28 (3) The department shall ensure that each newly hired correctional officer receives at least 4 weeks of on-the-job training with an experienced correctional officer.

SB607,2 Section 2. Initial applicability.

SB607,2,2 (1) This act first applies to correctional officers hired on the effective date of this subsection.
