Representatives Berceau, Kessler, Sinicki and Spreitzer. Referred to
Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety.
SB777,1,3 1An Act to repeal 175.60 (4) (b) 2.; to renumber 175.60 (4) (b) 1.; and to amend
2175.60 (4) (a) 1. a., b., c., d. and e. of the statutes; relating to: training
3requirements for a license to carry a concealed weapon.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires that a person who applies to the Department of Justice for a
license to carry a concealed weapon undergo at least six hours of training, one hour
of which involves shooting range experience and each session of which is limited to
25 participants. Current law requires training for licensure but does not specify
duration or class size and also prohibits DOJ from requiring that live ammunition
be fired as part of the training requirement.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
