3action to integrate solutions to carbon pollution and climate change into the
4activities and businesses of our fellow citizens.
SJR62,1,95 Whereas, faith leaders around the world are publicly recognizing that
6destructive climate change is happening, that climate change is caused by human
7action, that the value of a healthy planet cannot and should not be measured strictly
8monetarily, and that it is the responsibility and moral obligation of all of us to help
9save the planet we are carelessly and systematically destroying; and
SJR62,1,1310 Whereas, Pope Francis acknowledges that climate change is "one of the
11principal challenges facing humanity in our day" and in order to reduce carbon
12pollution and save our planet, "it is we human beings above all who need to change";

1Whereas, leaders of Christian denominations and churches across the nation
2and globe echo and strengthen the call that we have a moral obligation to act on
3climate change; and
SJR62,2,84 Whereas, the Dalai Lama recognizes that "climate change and the global
5economy now affect us all" and urges his followers to take action, and additional
6leaders of the Buddhist faith declare that "we must `de-carbonize' our energy
7systems as quickly as feasible by replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources
8that are limitless"; and
SJR62,2,129 Whereas, leaders of the Jewish faith have publicly proclaimed that "great
10Carbon Corporations not only make their enormous profits from wounding the
11Earth, but then use these profits to purchase elections and to fund fake science to
12prevent the public from acting to heal the wounds"; and
SJR62,2,1513 Whereas, Islamic faith leaders have declared that "Human activity is putting
14such a strain on the natural functions of the earth that the ability of the planet's
15ecosystems to sustain future generations can no longer be taken for granted"; and
SJR62,2,1916 Whereas, the science and faith communities are overwhelmingly united that
17we can and must take substantial action to reduce carbon pollution to preserve the
18health and quality of life of people across the globe, and to reverse the ecological
19damage to our land and waters; now, therefore, be it
SJR62,2,24 20Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin state
21legislature renews Wisconsin's land ethic and revives our heritage as a leader and
22pioneer in environmental policy and sustainability, with a focus on taking action to
23integrate solutions to carbon pollution and climate change into the activities and
24businesses of our fellow citizens.
