SR11,1,1 1Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Rosemary Hinkfuss.
SR11,1,32 Whereas, Rosemary T. Hinkfuss was born on September 30, 1931, in Lima,
3Ohio, and died on March 2, 2016; and
SR11,1,64 Whereas, Rosemary graduated from St. John's High School before earning a
5bachelor's degree in 1954 from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin;
6and
SR11,1,97 Whereas, Rosemary met her future husband, Bill, when he came to Cardinal
8Stritch with a delegation from St. Norbert College and they were married on
9September 24, 1957, at St. John Catholic Church in Lima, Ohio; and
SR11,1,1110 Whereas, following Bill's graduation from Georgetown Law School, they
11relocated to Green Bay, Wisconsin; and
SR11,1,1412 Whereas, along with raising six children, Rosemary also became involved in
13politics and helped to organize a reception in Green Bay for presidential candidate
14John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline in 1960; and

1Whereas, Rosemary then volunteered for several other candidates before
2running her own successful campaign in 1974 for the Green Bay City Council and
3Brown County Board of Supervisors, where she served until 1982; and
SR11,2,54 Whereas, Rosemary reentered the political arena in 1988 by winning the seat
5for the 88th Assembly District, which she held until 1994; and
SR11,2,96 Whereas, in addition to holding political office, Rosemary served on a number
7of boards and in 1980 was the first female named to the Green Bay Packers Board
8of Directors, serving in that role until 2001, when she became a Director Emeritus;
9and
SR11,2,1310 Whereas, in addition to public service, Rosemary's other passions were reading
11and the card game bridge, which she enjoyed playing with family and friends and in
12tournaments around the country, and her skill allowed her to achieve the status of
13Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League; and
SR11,2,1614 Whereas, Rosemary donated much of her time to helping others, but her main
15focus was always on her family, and she was a loving and supportive mother,
16grandmother, and wife; and
SR11,2,2017 Whereas, Rosemary positively affected the lives of countless individuals
18throughout her many years of service to her community, and in 2014 the Brown
19County Democratic Party honored her with their Lifetime Achievement Award; now,
20therefore, be it
SR11,2,24 21Resolved by the senate, That the members of the Wisconsin senate, on the
22motion of Senator Dave Hansen, do hereby celebrate the remarkable life of Rosemary
23T. Hinkfuss and extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends; and, be it

1Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
2Rosemary's husband, Bill, and to each of her children.
