Whereas, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has built, sustained,
3and expanded collegial and committed partnerships in order to provide
4apprenticeship opportunities for individuals and employers throughout the state;

Whereas, ABC of Wisconsin is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the initial
7approval of its Apprenticeship Training Standards, which occurred on August 3,

Whereas, the first set of apprentices were contracted into the program in

Whereas, ABC of Wisconsin has trained thousands of construction apprentices
12over the past 30 years; and

Whereas, countless apprenticeship graduates have advanced to leadership and
14even ownership positions with their companies and within the industry; and

1Whereas, a number of their graduates have gone on to earn associate,
2bachelor's, and master's degrees; and

Whereas, ABC of Wisconsin currently is training nearly 1,300 apprentices in
412 different trades; and

Whereas, ABC of Wisconsin currently trains roughly half of the electrical
6apprentices in the state; and

Whereas, ABC of Wisconsin works with 11 different technical college districts
8in the apprenticeship program; and

Whereas, largely, ABC of Wisconsin members fund their own employees'

Whereas, some ABC Wisconsin graduates have found their way off of public
12assistance to a long-term career in construction; and

Whereas, almost 100 percent of ABC of Wisconsin construction apprentices
14stay in Wisconsin and pay taxes, raise families, and help build Wisconsin; and

Whereas, the median wage for graduates of construction apprenticeship
