This bill repeals an exemption from the requirement under the prescription
drug monitoring program that a prescribing practitioner review a patient's records
before the practitioner issues a prescription order for a monitored prescription drug
to the patient. The exemption currently allows a prescribing practitioner to issue a
prescription order for a monitored prescription drug without reviewing the patient's
records if the prescription order is for a number of doses that is intended to last the
patient three days or less and is not subject to refill. This bill repeals that exemption
but does not affect any other existing exemptions from the requirement.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
