AB857,1,2 1An Act to amend 440.07 (title); and to create 440.07 (4) of the statutes; relating

examinations required for obtaining a credential.

This bill prohibits the Department of Safety and Professional Services and the
examining boards attached to DSPS from requiring the passage of an examination
as a condition for obtaining a credential, other than examinations that are required
at the time the bill is enacted, unless a subsequent law specifically authorizes DSPS
or an examining board to require passage of the examination.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB857,1 3Section 1. 440.07 (title) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB857,1,4 4440.07 (title) Examination standards and, services, and requirements.
AB857,2 5Section 2. 440.07 (4) of the statutes is created to read:
AB857,2,36 440.07 (4) Neither the department nor any credentialing board or other board
7in the department may require the passage of an examination as a condition for
8obtaining a credential, other than an examination that is required on the effective

1date of this subsection .... [LRB inserts date], unless a subsequent law specifically
2authorizes requiring passage of the examination as a condition for obtaining the
3credential.
