2University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on their accomplishments.
AJR97,1,43 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has one of the nation's most
4successful and longest-running collegiate wheelchair basketball programs; and
AJR97,1,65 Whereas, the Warhawks men's and women's basketball teams have won 16
6national championships—13 by the men's team and three by the women's team; and
AJR97,1,97 Whereas, in September 2021, UW-Whitewater athletes led Team USA men's
8wheelchair basketball to a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the second
9gold medal in a row for Team USA; and
AJR97,1,1210 Whereas, Team USA men's wheelchair basketball included five players with
11ties to UW-Whitewater: John Boie of Milton, Jake Williams of Milwaukee, Matt
12Scott of Detroit, Nate Hinze of Cedar Grove, and Matt Lesperance of Coleman; and
AJR97,1,1513 Whereas, Christina Schwab, the UW-Whitewater head coach for women's
14wheelchair basketball, was the assistant coach for Team USA men's wheelchair
15basketball in Tokyo; and

1Whereas, UW-Whitewater graduate Mariska Beijer, playing for the
2Netherlands women's wheelchair basketball team, helped that team take home the
3gold medal in Tokyo; and
AJR97,2,54 Whereas, UW-Whitewater graduate Lindsey Zurbrugg helped the USA
5women's wheelchair basketball team take home the bronze medal in Tokyo; and
AJR97,2,76 Whereas, these athletes set a tremendous example of strength, stamina, and
7resilience for fans across the nation and across the world; now, therefore, be it
AJR97,2,11 8Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
9Wisconsin Legislature congratulate and commend the athletes, coaches, and staff at
10the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on their achievements and wish
11UW-Whitewater alumni continued success in the future.
