SB508,1,2 1An Act to amend 347.26 (7) of the statutes; relating to: warning lamps on
2highway vehicles.

Under current law, a Department of Transportation or local highway
department vehicle that creates a traffic hazard by its use upon a highway may be
equipped with a flashing red or amber dome lamp or with flashing red or amber
lamps showing to the front and the rear of the vehicle. Under this bill, any of these
lamps may be green.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB508,1 3Section 1. 347.26 (7) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB508,2,54 347.26 (7) Warning lamps on certain highway vehicles. Any vehicle of the
5department or a county or municipal highway department which that by reason of
6its use upon a highway creates a vehicular traffic hazard requiring the exercise of
7unusual care in approaching, overtaking, or passing may be equipped with a flashing
8red or, amber, or green lamp of the dome-light type or with 2 flashing red or, amber,

lamps, one showing to the front and one showing to the rear. Such lamp or

3width of the vehicle and at the highest practicable point and shall be used only for
4the purpose of warning operators of other vehicles of the presence of the traffic
