AJR4,1,5 1Relating to: reaffirming Wisconsin's commitment to the strengthening and
2deepening of the sister ties between the State of Wisconsin and Taiwan;
3supporting Taiwan's signing of a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the
4United States; and continuing support for increasing Taiwan's international
5profile.
AJR4,1,96 Whereas, the State of Wisconsin established in 1986 the sister-state
7relationship with the Taiwan Province, Republic of China (Taiwan), and Wisconsin
8and Taiwan have enjoyed strong bilateral trade, educational and cultural exchange,
9and tourism; and
AJR4,1,1210 Whereas, Taiwan shares the same values of freedom, democracy, human rights,
11the rule of law, peace, and prosperity with the United States and the State of
12Wisconsin; and
AJR4,2,213 Whereas, in 2021, the United States ranked as Taiwan's second-largest trading
14partner, Taiwan ranked as the eighth-largest trading partner of the United States,

1and bilateral trade between Taiwan and the United States reached $113.9 billion;
2and
AJR4,2,63 Whereas, Taiwan and the State of Wisconsin have enjoyed a long and mutually
4beneficial relationship with the prospect of future growth, and Taiwan was
5Wisconsin's seventh-largest export market in Asia in 2021, with over $225 million
6worth of Wisconsin goods exported to Taiwan; and
AJR4,2,117 Whereas, negotiations for a BTA between Taiwan and the United States are an
8important step toward further strengthening bilateral trade between our countries,
9thereby increasing Wisconsin's exports to Taiwan and creating bilateral investment
10and technical collaboration through tariff reduction and other trade facilitation
11measures; and
AJR4,2,1512 Whereas, Taiwan has undertaken a policy of “steadfast diplomacy” in its
13international relations, and Taiwan is capable and willing to fulfill its
14responsibilities and to collaborate with the world to deal with the challenges of
15humanitarian aid, disease control, and so forth; now, therefore, be it
AJR4,2,18 16Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
17Legislature reaffirms its commitment to the strengthening and deepening of the
18sister ties between the State of Wisconsin and Taiwan; and, be it further
AJR4,2,21 19Resolved, That Wisconsin endorses Taiwan's efforts to secure the signing of
20a BTA with the United States and reiterates its support for a closer economic and
21trade partnership between the State of Wisconsin and Taiwan; and, be it further
AJR4,2,25 22Resolved, That Wisconsin continues to support Taiwan's appropriate
23participation in international organizations that impact the health, safety, and
24well-being of the people of Taiwan and supports Taiwan's aspiration to make more
25contributions in international societies; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the chief clerk of the assembly is hereby directed to transmit
2copies of this resolution to the members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation
3and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, Illinois.
