AR13,1,1 1Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Jim Ladwig.
AR13,1,32 Whereas, Eldor James “Jim” Ladwig, who devoted much of his life to serving
3his state and his country, passed away on March 28, 2023, at the age of 84; and
AR13,1,54 Whereas, Jim Ladwig was born on April 13, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
5and graduated from Milwaukee Riverside High School; and
AR13,1,76 Whereas, Jim Ladwig married Bonnie Adams on December 19, 1958, forming
7a partnership lasting 62 years; and
AR13,1,98 Whereas, Jim Ladwig graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
9with a B.S. in 1960 and an M.S. in 1961; and
AR13,1,1110 Whereas, in 1962, Jim Ladwig began his career in public service, ultimately
11serving as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army; and
AR13,1,1412 Whereas, Jim Ladwig continued his public service on a local level by serving as
13the Caledonia Town Supervisor from 1971 to 1973, as the Racine County Supervisor
14from 1974 to 1978, and in other organizations in the Racine Community; and

1Whereas, in 1978, Jim Ladwig transitioned to serving the State of Wisconsin
2upon his election as the representative from the 63rd district, a position he held for
3six terms before being succeeded by his wife, Bonnie, in 1993; and
AR13,2,64 Whereas, upon his retirement from public service and his decades-long career
5at Robert W. Baird, Jim Ladwig enjoyed splitting his time between his communities
6in Racine, Wisconsin, and Lake Placid, Florida; and
AR13,2,97 Whereas, outside of his work, Jim Ladwig was known as a dedicated alumnus
8and avid fan of the Badgers, a pickleball player and golfer, a faithful Christian, and
9a man with an infectious sense of humor and kind heart; and
AR13,2,1210 Whereas, Jim Ladwig leaves behind his three loving children, Laura, Linda,
11and Jim, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many dear friends;
12now, therefore, be it
AR13,2,15 13Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin State
14Assembly join in honoring the life, memory, and public service of Representative Jim
15Ladwig and extend their deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
