SB318,1,3 1An Act to create 157.06 (11) (a) 5. of the statutes; relating to: receipt of
2anatomical gifts by search and rescue organizations for human remains
3detection canines.

This bill allows certain search and rescue organizations or recovery teams that
use human remains detection canines to receive anatomical gifts under certain
circumstances. Under current law, only certain persons or entities, including
accredited medical schools for the purpose of research or education and organ
procurement organizations as custodians of a body part for transplant or therapy,
may receive anatomical gifts.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB318,1 4Section 1 . 157.06 (11) (a) 5. of the statutes is created to read:
SB318,2,25 157.06 (11) (a) 5. A search and rescue organization or recovery team that is
6described in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, is exempt from federal
7taxation under section 501 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code, and uses human

1remains detection canines with the authorization of a law enforcement agency, as
2defined in s. 165.83 (1) (b).
