SB359-SSA1,1,2 An Act to create 115.28 (56) of the statutes; relating to: incorporating the history of the Hmong into the model academic standards for social studies.

This substitute amendment directs the state superintendent of public instruction to incorporate into the model academic standards for social studies the role of the Hmong in fighting for the United States in the Vietnam War, the persecution of the Hmong by the Laotian government after the Vietnam War, and the reasons for the emigration of many Hmong to the United States.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB359-SSA1, s. 1 Section 1. 115.28 (56) of the statutes is created to read:

SB359-SSA1,2,2 115.28 (56) Social studies standards. Incorporate into the model academic standards for social studies the role of the Hmong in fighting for the United States in the Vietnam War, the persecution of the Hmong by the Laotian government after the Vietnam War, and the reasons for the emigration of many Hmong to the United States.
