ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO 2009 ASSEMBLY BILL 406

AB406-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB406-AA1,1,3 1. Page 2, line 2: delete the material beginning with "of a ward" and ending with "district" on line 3.

AB406-AA1,1,5 2. Page 2, line 3: delete the material beginning with "who" and ending with "and" on line 4.

AB406-AA1,1,9 3. Page 2, line 5: delete " The inspectors" and substitute "If the challenged elector proposes to vote in a municipality having a population of 2,500 or more, the challenging elector shall be an elector of the same ward or election district as the challenged elector and the inspectors".

AB406-AA1,1,11 4. Page 2, line 6: delete " a challenge from the challenging elector" and substitute "the challenge".

AB406-AA1,1,13 5. Page 2, line 12: delete the material beginning with "reside" and ending with "and will" on line 13 and substitute "will".

AB406-AA1,2,5 6. Page 2, line 14: delete "election"; and shall" and substitute "election"; and shall election." If the challenged elector resides in a municipality having a population of 2,500 or more, the inspector shall also require the challenging elector to swear or affirm that he or she is an elector of the same ward or election district as the challenged elector. AB406-AA1,2,8 8. Page 2, line 20: delete "of election" and substitute "of election".

AB406-AA1,2,13 9. Page 3, line 3: after "(5)." insert "If the challenged elector proposes to vote in a municipality having a population of 2,500 or more, any challenging elector shall be an elector of the same ward or election district as the challenged elector and the inspectors shall require the challenging elector to provide proof of residence under s. 6.34 before accepting the challenge.".

AB406-AA1,2,16 10. Page 3, line 6: delete the material beginning with "an" and ending with "challenged" on line 7 and substitute "the board of absentee ballot canvassers or by another".

Page 3, line 10: delete "Before reviewing a challenge made by an elector," and substitute "If the challenged elector proposes to vote in a municipality having a population of 2,500 or more, any challenging elector shall be an elector of the same ward or election district as the challenged elector and".
