7(a) 1. and (am). Any design for registration plates issued for automobiles and for
8vehicles registered on the basis of gross weight shall comply with the applicable
9design requirements of ss. 341.12 (3), 341.13, and 341.14 (6r) (c). The designs for
10registration plates specified in this
subsection
section shall be as similar in
11appearance as practicable during each
10-year design interval. Except as provided
12in ss. 341.13 (2r) and 341.14 (1), each registration plate issued under s. 341.14 (1),
13(1a), (1m), (1q), (2), (2m), (6m), or (6r), 341.25 (1) (a), (c), (h), or (j) or (2) (a), (b), or (c),
14or 341.26 (2) or (3) (a) 1. or (am) during each
10-year design interval shall be of the
15design established under this
subsection section. The department may not redesign
16registration plates for the special groups under s. 341.14 (6r) (f) 53., 54., or 55. until
17July 1, 2010.
Except for registration plates issued under s. 341.14 (6r) (f) 53., 54., or
1855., the first design cycle for registration plates issued under ss. 341.14 (1), (1a), (1m),
19(1q), (2), (2m), (6m), and (6r), 341.25 (1) (a), (c), (h), and (j) and (2) (a), (b), and (c), and
20341.26 (2) and (3) (a) 1. and (am) began July 1, 2000. (2m) Applicability. 21Notwithstanding s. 341.13 (3), as the department establishes new designs for
22registration plates under this section, the department shall, at the time determined
23appropriate by the department, issue registration plates of the new design to replace
24registration plates previously issued. This section does not apply to special group
25plates under s. 341.14 (6r) (f) 19m.

7once every 4 years, as determined by the department, from the U.S. department of
8veterans affairs certifying to the department that the resident is, by reason of
9injuries sustained while in the active U.S. military service, a person with a disability
10that limits or impairs the ability to walk, the department shall procure, issue and
11deliver to the veteran,
plates a plate of a special design in lieu of the
plates plate 12which ordinarily would be issued for the vehicle, and shall renew the
plates plate.
13The
plates plate shall be colored red, white, and blue and the department shall
14consult the department of veterans affairs before specifying the design of the
plates 15plate. The
plates plate shall be so designed as to readily apprise law enforcement
16officers of the fact that the vehicle is owned by a disabled veteran and is entitled to
17the parking privileges specified in s. 346.50 (2). No charge in addition to the
18registration fee shall be made for the issuance or renewal of
such plates the plate.

3from a podiatrist licensed to practice in any state, from a chiropractor licensed to
4practice chiropractic in any state, or from a Christian Science practitioner residing
5in this state and listed in the Christian Science journal certifying to the department
6that the resident is a person with a disability that limits or impairs the ability to
7walk, the department shall procure, issue and deliver to the disabled person
plates 8a plate of a special design in lieu of
plates the plate which ordinarily would be issued
9for the vehicle, and shall renew the
plates plate. The
plates plate shall be so designed
10as to readily apprise law enforcement officers of the fact that the vehicle is owned by
11a nonveteran disabled person and is entitled to the parking privileges specified in s.
12346.50 (2a). No charge in addition to the registration fee shall be made for the
13issuance or renewal of
such plates the plate.
