SB168,1,3 1An Act to amend 230.35 (4) (c) and 230.35 (4) (d) (intro.); and to create 230.35
2(4) (a) 5m. and 230.35 (4) (a) 11. of the statutes; relating to: state government
3holidays.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, in each year, nonrepresented state employees receive nine
paid holidays for days on which the offices of state government are closed and four
and one-half paid personal holidays, one of which is in recognition of Veterans day.
Represented employees receive only the paid holidays provided for in their collective
bargaining agreements. This bill provides that November 11 (the day on which
Veterans Day is celebrated) is a day on which the offices of state government are
closed. The bill also increases for nonrepresented state employees the number of
paid holidays for days on which the offices of state government are closed from nine
to ten days and reduces the number of paid personal holidays by one day.
Represented state employees continue to have the paid holidays provided for in their
collective bargaining agreements.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
