2009 Assembly Resolution 20
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Sande Robinson.
Whereas, Sande Robinson, Director of the Equal Opportunity Program at Marquette University, began her career at Marquette University in 1974 as a financial aid counselor in the Equal Opportunity Program, a program which assists low-income and first-generation college students in obtaining a college degree; and
Whereas, Sande Robinson continues to counsel undergraduate students since she became the director of the Equal Opportunity Program in 1986; and
Whereas, Sande Robinson has served as the president of the Wisconsin Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel, and is a member of the Friends of the Haggerty Museum Board and the Diversity Task Force; and
Whereas, Sande Robinson has successfully secured federal funding for the Equal Opportunity Program throughout its history; and
Whereas, she has been active on the national level in presenting models of support program innovation and has also been a reader of grant applications for the U.S. Department of Education Student Support Services grant competition; and
Whereas, Sande Robinson has been an integral part of closing the gap between the number of low-income students who earn college degrees and their middle-income counterparts; and
Whereas, Sande Robinson will retire in June 2010 after 35 years of service to Marquette University; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That members of the Wisconsin legislature honor Sande Robinson for her leadership and commitment to the students at Marquette University and for paving the way for many students to have the opportunity to pursue a higher education; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Sande Robinson.
