REQUIREMENTS FOR RENEWAL

MTBT 4.01 MTBT 4.01License expiration. Licenses for massage therapists and bodywork therapists expire on March 1 of each odd-numbered year.

MTBT 4.02 MTBT 4.02Renewal of license. In order to renew a license on or before the renewal date, the license holder shall submit the following to the board:
MTBT 4.02(1) (1) A renewal application on a form provided by the board.
MTBT 4.02(2) (2) The renewal fee required under s. 440.08 (2) (a) 46r., Stats.
MTBT 4.02(3) (3) Evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has in effect as a policyholder and insured, malpractice liability insurance coverage in an amount that is not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 for all occurrences in one year.
MTBT 4.02(4) (4) Evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has current proficiency in the use of an automated external defibrillator achieved through instruction provided by an individual, organization, or institution of higher education approved under s. 46.03 (38), Stats., to provide the instruction.
MTBT 4.02(5) (5) Beginning with the biennial registration period commencing on March 1, 2015, unless granted a waiver under s. MTBT 7.02 (4), each licensee is required to complete 24 hours of continuing education prior to renewal of a license to practice as a massage therapist or bodywork therapist, except that, a new licensee shall not be required to comply with the continuing education requirements for the first renewal of a license.

MTBT 4.03 MTBT 4.03Failure to renew. A license holder who fails to renew a license by the applicable renewal date may not use any title or description that implies that he or she is credentialed by the board as a massage therapist or bodywork therapist until his or her license is renewed under s. MTBT 4.04.

MTBT 4.04 MTBT 4.04Late renewal. A massage therapist or bodywork therapist who fails to renew his or her license by the renewal date may renew the license by satisfying all of the following requirements:
MTBT 4.04(1) (1) If applying less than 5 years after the renewal date, submitting to the board all of the following:
MTBT 4.04(1)(a) (a) An application for renewal on a form provided by the board.
MTBT 4.04(1)(b) (b) The applicable renewal fees required under s. 440.08 (2) (a) and (3), Stats.
MTBT 4.04(1)(c) (c) Evidence satisfactory to the board that he or she has in effect as a policyholder and insured, malpractice liability insurance coverage in an amount that is not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 for all occurrences in one year.
MTBT 4.04(2) (2) If applying 5 years or more after the renewal date, satisfying the requirements in sub. (1), and submitting proof of all of the following:
MTBT 4.04(2)(a) (a) Successful completion of educational course work required by the board to ensure protection of the public health, safety, and welfare.
MTBT 4.04(2)(b) (b) Successful completion of an examination required by the board to ensure protection of the public health, safety, and welfare.
