AB130-AA23,2,2 (1) Audit of short-term detention as a juvenile disposition. The joint legislative audit committee is requested to direct the legislative audit bureau to perform a financial and performance evaluation audit of the use of placement in a secure detention facility, juvenile portion of a county jail or place of nonsecure custody under section 938.34 (3) (f) of the statutes, as created by this act, as a disposition for a juvenile who has been adjudicated delinquent. The audit shall include an evaluation of the effectiveness of that disposition in preventing more serious involvement in the juvenile justice system. Upon request, a court assigned to exercise jurisdiction under chapter 48 of the statutes and under chapter 938 of the statutes, as created by this act, shall provide the legislative audit bureau with access to the court's records. The legislative audit bureau shall ensure that no personally identifiable information from the court's records is disclosed. If the committee directs the legislative audit bureau to perform an audit, the bureau shall file its report as described under section 13.94 (1) (b) of the statutes by January 1, 1998.".
