AB441-SA26,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the engrossed bill as follows:
AB441-SA26,1,2 21. Page 19, line 14: after that line insert:
AB441-SA26,1,3 3" Section 4m. 253.105 of the statutes is created to read:
AB441-SA26,1,6 4253.105 Voluntary and informed consent for vasectomies. (1)
5Generally. A vasectomy may not be performed unless the man upon whom the
6vasectomy is to be performed has given voluntary and informed written consent.
AB441-SA26,1,8 7(2) Informed consent. A man's consent to a vasectomy is informed only if all
8of the following first take place:
AB441-SA26,1,119 (a) At least 24 hours before the vasectomy is to be performed, the physician who
10is to perform the vasectomy or any other qualified physician has, in person, orally
11informed the man of all of the following:
AB441-SA26,1,1312 1. The particular medical risks, if any, associated with vasectomy, including
13risk of infection, psychological trauma, and other possible complications.
AB441-SA26,1,1514 2. The details of the surgical method that would be used to perform the
15vasectomy.
AB441-SA26,2,2
13. The recommended general instructions for the man to follow to enhance his
2safe recovery.
AB441-SA26,2,43 4. Any other information a reasonable patient would consider relevant to a
4decision as to whether to have a vasectomy.
AB441-SA26,2,65 (b) The man may withdraw his consent to have a vasectomy at any time before
6it is performed.".
