SENATE AMENDMENT 12, To 1995 ASSEMBLY BILL 69

AB69-SA12,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB69-SA12,1,3 1. Page 1, line 2: after "counties" insert ", the carrying of firearms in certain places in cities and villages and providing a penalty".

AB69-SA12,1,4 2. Page 3, line 2: after that line insert:

AB69-SA12,1,5 " Section 2r. 941.236 of the statutes is created to read:

AB69-SA12,1,8 941.236 Carrying of firearms in certain places in cities and villages. (1) A person who carries a firearm, or has a firearm within his or her reach, in any of the following places is subject to a Class D forfeiture:

AB69-SA12,1,10 (a) A business establishment that is open to the public and that is located in a city or village.

AB69-SA12,1,11 (b) A street, road, highway, sidewalk, alley or other property of a city or village.

AB69-SA12,1,13 (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a firearm carried in a case that does not permit immediate access to the weapon.

AB69-SA12,2,2 (3) This section does not apply to peace officers or armed forces or military personnel who go armed in the line of duty or to any person duly authorized by the chief of police of any city or village or the chief of the capitol police to possess a firearm in a city or village in which the chief has jurisdiction.".
