SENATE AMENDMENT 8, To 1995 ASSEMBLY BILL 69

AB69-SA8,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB69-SA8,1,3 1. Page 1, line 2: after "counties" insert ", the manner of carrying firearms in cities and villages and providing a penalty".

AB69-SA8,1,4 2. Page 3, line 2: after that line insert:

AB69-SA8,1,5 " Section 2r. 941.236 of the statutes is created to read:

AB69-SA8,1,7 941.236 Manner of carrying firearm in cities and villages. (1) No person may possess a firearm in a city or village unless any of the following applies:

AB69-SA8,1,10 (a) The firearm is unloaded and enclosed in a carrying case or other appropriate container. For purposes of this paragraph, "carrying case or other appropriate container" does not include a shoulder holster or a belt holster.

AB69-SA8,1,11 (b) The firearm is unloaded and dismantled so as to render it inoperable.

AB69-SA8,1,12 (2) Any person who violates sub. (1) is subject to a Class D forfeiture.

AB69-SA8,2,2 (3) This section does not apply to peace officers or armed forces or military personnel who go armed in the line of duty or to any person duly authorized by the chief of police of any city or village or the chief of the capitol police to possess a firearm in a city or village in which the chief has jurisdiction.".
