To 1995 ASSEMBLY JOINT RESOLUTION 43

AJR43-ASA1,1,1 1Relating to: the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AJR43-ASA1,1,42 Whereas, on April 19, 1995, at 9:02 a.m. the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building
3in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was destroyed and the lives of hundreds of innocent
4people were altered forever by this senseless act of violence; and
AJR43-ASA1,1,75 Whereas, on April 19, 1995, the people of Oklahoma City experienced the terror
6and pain of a murderous assault against members of their community, including 168
7innocent men, women and children; and
AJR43-ASA1,1,118 Whereas, this murderous assault was carried out in the form of a bomb that was
9planted beside a child care center in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Office Building
10and that resulted in the deaths of 149 dedicated public servants and 19 innocent
11children; and
AJR43-ASA1,1,1412 Whereas, 2 of these victims spent part of their lives in Wisconsin: Peter De
13Master, formerly of Sheboygan, and Julie Welch, a 1994 graduate of Marquette
14University; and

1Whereas, the people of the state of Oklahoma have demonstrated their courage
2and compassion by uniting from the very beginning to save the lives of their fellow
3human beings, to bring honor and peace to the fallen and to rebuild and renew the
4lives and hopes of all those who survived this horrific act directed against all
5humankind; and
AJR43-ASA1,2,86 Whereas, we look with awe from afar at the heroic efforts of the emergency
7medical technicians, medical staff, fire fighters, police officers and all others who
8risked their lives for the sake of their fellow human beings; and
AJR43-ASA1,2,109 Whereas, this was an attempt to destroy the very fabric of our American
10heritage and replace it with fear and intolerance; and
AJR43-ASA1,2,1311 Whereas, instead this tragedy has brought the nation closer together as we
12mourn for the victims and comfort their families, applaud the heroism of the rescuers
13and attempt to bring the culprits to justice; and
AJR43-ASA1,2,1614 Whereas, we applaud the peace officers in Oklahoma who have worked
15alongside their fellow officers in the FBI and BATF to quickly bring the perpetrators
16of this cowardly crime to justice; now, therefore, be it
AJR43-ASA1,2,23 17Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin legislature, on behalf of the people of Wisconsin, extend their deepest
19sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the brave people of Oklahoma City and the
20state of Oklahoma for the pain and loss caused by this inhumane act and the people
21of Wisconsin join in to condemn those who advocate violence against American
22citizens or against the United States government or its agents to advance their own
23personal or political cause; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
2resolution to the Governor of the state of Oklahoma and to the Oklahoma legislature
3as a demonstration of our solidarity and support in their time of sorrow.
