SENATE AMENDMENT 8, To ASSEMBLY BILL 1

October 3, 1995 - Offered by Senators Chvala, Clausing, Decker and Moen.

AB1-SA8,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the engrossed bill as follows:

AB1-SA8,1,2 1. Page 2, line 4: after the semicolon insert: "requiring a referendum;".

AB1-SA8,1,3 2. Page 31, line 7: delete "In" and substitute "Subject to s. 229.682 (7), in".

AB1-SA8,1,4 3. Page 34, line 22: after that line insert:

AB1-SA8,2,2 "(7) Local referendum. A district may not take any action under s. 229.68 (4) unless the electors within the jurisdiction approve of the creation of the district in a referendum called by each of the county boards of the counties within the district's jurisdiction for that purpose at the next spring primary or election or September primary or general election, to be held not sooner than 45 days after the referendum is called by the county board. Each county board shall call for a referendum under this subsection, for the same election, not later than 90 days after the effective date of this subsection .... [revisor inserts date]. The referendum question shall be: "Do you approve of the creation of a Professional Baseball Park District by the state legislature, the jurisdiction of which includes [name of county]?". If the question is approved by a majority of all votes cast on the question at that election, the district may act under s. 229.68 (4); otherwise the district may not act under that subsection.".
