ASSEMBLY SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 1997 ASSEMBLY BILL 180

AB180-ASA1,1,2 An Act to amend 347.25 (2) of the statutes; relating to: requiring strobe lights on school buses.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB180-ASA1, s. 1 Section 1. 347.25 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB180-ASA1,1,11 347.25 (2) No person may operate a school bus which is painted as provided in s. 347.44 unless it is equipped with flashing red signals. In addition to the flashing red signals, the school bus may be equipped and with a 360-degree flashing white strobe light with having a flashrate of 60 to 120 per minute. The secretary shall prescribe rules for the type, installation, operation and light output brilliance of the signals and lights required or permitted under this subsection. No vehicle may be equipped with such flashing red signals or flashing red signals and a strobe light unless it also is painted as provided in s. 347.44.

AB180-ASA1, s. 2 Section 2. Initial applicability.

AB180-ASA1,2,2 (1) School bus strobe light. This act first applies to school buses initially registered on the effective date of this subsection.

AB180-ASA1, s. 3 Section 3. Effective date.

AB180-ASA1,2,5 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after publication.
