AB220-AA6,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB220-AA6,1,2 21. Page 1, line 3: before "and" insert ", granting rule-making authority".
AB220-AA6,1,3 32. Page 2, line 1: delete that line and substitute:
AB220-AA6,1,4 4" Section 1g. 448.15 of the statutes is created to read:
AB220-AA6,1,6 5448.15 Review of partial-birth abortions. (1) In this section,
6"partial-birth abortion" has the meaning given in s. 940.16 (1) (b).
AB220-AA6,1,13 7(2) At the request of a physician charged with a violation of s. 940.16 (2), the
8board shall conduct a hearing as to whether the physician's performance of the
9partial-birth abortion was necessary to save the life of a woman whose life was
10endangered by a physical disorder, physical illness or physical injury, including a
11life-endangering physical disorder, physical illness or physical injury caused by or
12arising from the pregnancy itself, and whether no other medical procedure would
13have sufficed for that purpose.

1(3) The findings by the board at a hearing under sub. (2) may be admitted at
2the criminal trial of the physician who requested the hearing.
AB220-AA6,2,4 3(4) The board shall promulgate rules relating to the conduct of hearings under
4sub. (2).
AB220-AA6, s. 1r 5Section 1r. 939.62 (2m) (a) 2. of the statutes is amended to read:".

AB220-AA6,2,7 7" Section 2m. 971.10 (3) (d) of the statutes is created to read:
AB220-AA6,2,148 971.10 (3) (d) Notwithstanding par. (a), the court shall grant a continuance to
9a physician charged with a violation of s. 940.16 (2) if the physician has requested
10a hearing before the medical examining board under s. 448.15 (2) and the hearing
11has not yet taken place. The continuance shall be of sufficient length to permit the
12hearing under s. 448.15 (2) to be held. A motion for a continuance filed under this
13paragraph extends the time limit for commencing the trial under sub. (2) (a) by the
14number of days for which the continuance is granted.".
