TO 1997 ASSEMBLY BILL 79

AB79-ASA1,1,5 1An Act to renumber and amend 29.093 (2) (f) and 29.225 (4) (a); and to create
229.093 (2) (f) 2., 29.225 (4) (a) 2. and 29.225 (4) (am) of the statutes; relating
3to:
hunting of antlerless deer and small game by certain holders of certificates
4of accomplishment issued under the hunter education and firearm safety
5program.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB79-ASA1, s. 1 6Section 1. 29.093 (2) (f) of the statutes is renumbered 29.093 (2) (f) 1. amended
7to read:
AB79-ASA1,1,118 29.093 (2) (f) 1. Except as provided under s. 29.227 (1) (d), a certificate of
9accomplishment issued under s. 29.225 that may be used in place of a small game
10hunting license
is valid for the hunting of small game in place of a small game
11hunting license from the date of issuance until March 31 of the following year.
AB79-ASA1, s. 2 12Section 2. 29.093 (2) (f) 2. of the statutes is created to read:

129.093 (2) (f) 2. A certificate of accomplishment issued under s. 29.225 that the
2department has authorized to be used in place of a permit under s. 29.225 (4) (am)
3is valid for the hunting of one antlerless deer during the deer hunting season
4immediately following the date of issuance of the certificate.
AB79-ASA1, s. 3 5Section 3. 29.225 (4) (a) of the statutes is renumbered 29.225 (4) (a) 1.
6amended to read:
AB79-ASA1,2,127 29.225 (4) (a) 1. The department shall issue a certificate of accomplishment
8to a person who successfully completes the course of instruction under the hunter
9education and firearm safety program and who pays the instruction fee. The
10department shall prescribe the form and content of the certificate of
11accomplishment. The certificate may be used by a resident to whom issued in place
12of a small game hunting license as required in s. 29.09.
AB79-ASA1, s. 4 13Section 4. 29.225 (4) (a) 2. of the statutes is created to read:
AB79-ASA1,2,1714 29.225 (4) (a) 2. A resident may use the certificate of accomplishment issued
15to him or her for successfully completing the course of instruction under the hunter
16education and firearm safety program for the first time in place of a small game
17hunting license as required in s. 29.09.
AB79-ASA1, s. 5 18Section 5. 29.225 (4) (am) of the statutes is created to read:
AB79-ASA1,3,219 29.225 (4) (am) Authorization for antlerless deer. The department may
20authorize a person to whom it issues a certificate of accomplishment for successfully
21completing the course of instruction under the hunter education and firearm safety
22program for the first time to use the certificate in place of a permit issued under s.
2329.107 to take one antlerless deer in specific areas identified by the department. The

1authorization for group deer hunting under s. 29.405 shall not apply to a person
2hunting an antlerless deer as authorized under this paragraph.
