SENATE AMENDMENT 3, TO 1997 SENATE BILL 130

SB130-SA3,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB130-SA3,1,2 1. Page 1, line 3: before that line insert:

SB130-SA3,1,3 " Section 1. 95.21 (1) (a), (ag) and (dm) of the statutes are created to read:

SB130-SA3,1,4 95.21 (1) (a) "Camelid" means a llama, alpacca, guanaco or vicuna.

SB130-SA3,1,6 (ag) "Equine" means a horse, donkey, ass or zebra or any hybrid combination of horse, ass, donkey or zebra.

SB130-SA3,1,7 (dm) "Ratite" means an ostrich, emu or rhea.".

SB130-SA3,1,8 2. Page 1, line 3: delete "Section 1" and substitute "Section 1m".

SB130-SA3,1,9 3. Page 2, line 9: delete lines 9 to 11 and substitute:

SB130-SA3,1,12 "95.21 (9m) Sale of rabies vaccine. No person may sell or otherwise supply rabies vaccine for administration by the purchaser unless one of the following applies:

SB130-SA3,1,13 (a) The purchaser is a veterinarian.

SB130-SA3,2,3 (b) The purchaser provides to the person supplying the vaccine a letter signed by a veterinarian stating that the purchaser is competent to properly administer the vaccine to equines, camelids or ratites.

SB130-SA3, s. 3m Section 3m. 895.484 of the statutes is created to read:

SB130-SA3,2,10 895.484 Civil liability exemption; veterinarian certification of competence to administer rabies vaccine. A veterinarian, as defined in s. 453.02 (7), is immune from civil liability for acts or omissions related to his or her certification under s. 95.21 (9m) that a person is competent to administer rabies vaccine if the death or illness of any person or animal occurs because of the improper administration of rabies vaccine by the person so certified.".
