ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 6, TO 1999 ASSEMBLY BILL 105

AB105-AA6,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB105-AA6,1,6 1. Page 4, line 8: delete lines 8 to 11 and substitute "appeal board for permission to hold a special referendum submitting a specified question on a date specified in the petition. If the referendum appeal board finds, within 10 days after receipt of a petition under this subsection, and with the concurrence of at least 3 members, that no emergency".

Page 4, line 15: delete the material beginning with "permit" and ending with "unit." on line 17 and substitute "disapprove the scheduling of a referendum relating to the question specified in the petition on the date specified in the petition. If the referendum appeal board does not so find, within 10 days after receipt of a petition under this subsection, and with the concurrence of at least 3 members, the local governmental unit may hold the special referendum on the date specified in the petition.".

Page 5, line 9: delete the material beginning with "the governor" and ending with "persons." on line 11, and substitute "4 members appointed by the elections board, including one individual designated by each of the following: the senate majority leader, the senate minority leader, the speaker of the assembly and the assembly minority leader. In case of an absence or temporary vacancy, the officer designating that member may serve as a member of the board.".
