AB628-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB628-AA1,1,3 21. Page 1, line 2: after "program" insert "and requiring school districts to
3maintain waiting lists for acceptance into the program".
AB628-AA1,1,4 42. Page 2, line 3: substitute "5" for "3".
AB628-AA1,1,5 53. Page 2, line 7: after that line insert:
AB628-AA1,1,6 6" Section 1d. 118.51 (3) (a) 2. of the statutes is amended to read:
AB628-AA1,1,127 118.51 (3) (a) 2. A nonresident school board may not act on any application
8received under subd. 1. until after the 3rd Friday in February. If a nonresident school
9board receives more applications for a particular grade or program than there are
10spaces available in the grade or program, the nonresident school board shall
11determine which pupils to accept on a random basis and shall establish a waiting list
12by randomly assigning a priority number to each pupil who is not accepted
.
AB628-AA1, s. 1e 13Section 1e. 118.51 (3) (a) 3. of the statutes is amended to read:

1118.51 (3) (a) 3. On or before the first Friday following the first Monday in April
2following receipt of the application, the nonresident school board shall notify the
3applicant, in writing, whether it has accepted the application. If the nonresident
4school board rejects an application, it shall include in the notice the reason for the
5rejection and, if applicable, the waiting list priority number assigned under subd. 2.
AB628-AA1, s. 1f 6Section 1f. 118.51 (3) (a) 4. of the statutes is amended to read:
AB628-AA1,2,157 118.51 (3) (a) 4. On or before the first Friday following the first Monday in April
8following receipt of a copy of the application, if a resident school board denies a pupil's
9enrollment in a nonresident school district under sub. (6), (7) or (12) (b) 1., the
10resident school board shall notify the applicant and the nonresident school board, in
11writing, that the application has been denied and include in the notice the reason for
12the denial. If a resident pupil is denied enrollment under sub. (6), the school board
13shall establish a waiting list by randomly assigning a priority number to each pupil
14whose application has been so denied and include in the notice the waiting list
15priority number assigned to the pupil.
AB628-AA1, s. 1j 16Section 1j. 118.51 (3) (a) 7. of the statutes is created to read:
AB628-AA1,2,2217 118.51 (3) (a) 7. If a nonresident school board that established a waiting list
18under subd. 2. determines that additional spaces are available, the school board shall
19accept additional pupils in the order of the priority numbers assigned under subd.
202. If, based on more accurate membership data, a resident school board determines
21that it may allow additional pupils to enroll in a nonresident school district, it shall
22select additional pupils in the order of the priority numbers assigned under subd. 4.".
