TO 2003 ASSEMBLY BILL 153

AB153-ASA1,1,4 1An Act to renumber and amend 29.971 (11); and to create 29.971 (11) (b) of
2the statutes; relating to: penalties for hunting deer, including antlered deer,
3without a license, requiring the exercise of rule-making authority, and
4providing penalties.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB153-ASA1, s. 1 5Section 1. 29.971 (11) of the statutes is renumbered 29.971 (11) (a) and
6amended to read:
AB153-ASA1,2,37 29.971 (11) (a) For hunting antlered deer without the required approval,
8during the closed season, with the aid of artificial light or with the aid of an aircraft,
9except as provided in s. 29.307 (2), for the snaring of or setting snares for antlered
10deer, or for the possession or control of a an antlered deer carcass in violation of s.
1129.055 or 29.347, by a fine forfeiture of not less than $1,000 nor more than $2,000 or
12by imprisonment for not more than 6 months or both
. In addition, the court shall

1order the revocation of all approvals issued to the person under this chapter and shall
2prohibit the issuance of any new approval under this chapter to the person for up to
33 years.
AB153-ASA1, s. 2 4Section 2. 29.971 (11) (b) of the statutes is created to read:
AB153-ASA1,2,135 29.971 (11) (b) For hunting antlerless deer without the required approval,
6during the closed season, with the aid of artificial light or with the aid of an aircraft,
7except as provided in s. 29.307 (2), for the snaring of or setting snares for antlerless
8deer, or for the possession or control of an antlerless deer carcass in violation of s.
929.055 or 29.347, by a forfeiture of not more than $500 for the first violation and not
10more than $1,000 for each subsequent violation. In addition, the court may order the
11revocation of all approvals issued to the person under this chapter and may prohibit
12the issuance of any new approval under this chapter to the person for one year for
13the first violation and for up to 3 years for each subsequent violation.
