SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2003 SENATE BILL 225

SB225-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB225-SA1,1,2 1. Page 2, line 1: before that line insert:

SB225-SA1,1,3 " Section 1e. 440.08 (2) (a) 25. of the statutes is amended to read:

SB225-SA1,1,5 440.08 (2) (a) 25. Dental hygienist: October 1 of each odd-numbered year; $57 $69.

SB225-SA1, s. 1m Section 1m. 440.08 (5) of the statutes is created to read:

SB225-SA1,1,11 440.08 (5) Dental hygienist continuing education. In each fiscal biennium, the department and the dentistry examining board shall use no less than 17 percent of the renewal fees specified in sub. (2) (a) 25. that are collected in that biennium for the purpose of determining the compliance of renewal applicants with the requirements of s. 447.055.".

SB225-SA1,1,13 3. Page 2, line 12: after "taught," insert ", prepared,".

SB225-SA1,2,4 4. Page 2, line 14: after "continuing education" insert "related to the practice of dental hygiene that are sponsored or recognized by a local, state, regional, national, or international dental, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or medical-related professional organization".

SB225-SA1,2,5 5. Page 2, line 19: delete lines 19 and 20 and substitute:

SB225-SA1,2,7 "(2m) The credit hours required under sub. (1) may be satisfied by self-study, correspondence, or Internet programs or courses.".

SB225-SA1,2,8 6. Page 3, line 4: after " (4)" insert "(a)".

SB225-SA1,2,9 7. Page 3, line 5: delete "5" and substitute "8".

SB225-SA1,2,11 8. Page 3, line 6: after "sub. (1)." insert "For purposes of this paragraph, one hour of voluntary activities is equivalent to one credit hour of continuing education.".

SB225-SA1,2,12 9. Page 3, line 7: before that line insert:

SB225-SA1,2,16 "(b) A person may substitute credit hours of college level courses related to the practice of dental hygiene for the credit hours required under sub. (1). For purposes of this paragraph, one credit hour of a college level course is equivalent to 6 credit hours of continuing education.

SB225-SA1,2,19 (4m) A person who teaches or prepares a continuing education program more than once during a 2-year period may use that program only once during that 2-year period to satisfy the credit hours required under sub. (1).".
