AB536-AA5,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB536-AA5,1,4 21. Page 1, line 3: after "number" insert ", requiring a register of deeds to keep
3a record of persons who review or copy records in the office, requiring such persons
4to sign a certified statement regarding the records,".
AB536-AA5,1,5 52. Page 2, line 3: after that line insert:
AB536-AA5,1,6 6" Section 1m. 59.43 (1) (w) of the statutes is created to read:
AB536-AA5,2,47 59.43 (1) (w) Keep a written log of the names of all persons who review or copy
8records that have been recorded or filed with the register of deeds, except that the
9register of deeds may waive this requirement for any person, based on written
10standards developed by the register of deeds. The standards shall be based on factors
11such as the frequency that the person reviews or copies such records. If the person
12reviewing or copying the records is representing another person, the log shall also
13include the name of the person who is being represented. The written log shall

1describe the type of records viewed or copied and any identification number that is
2contained on the record, and the register of deeds shall require each person, prior to
3reviewing or copying a record, to sign and date a statement certifying under oath that
4all of following apply, to the extent applicable:
AB536-AA5,2,65 1. The person is reviewing or copying records kept in that county's register of
6deeds office.
AB536-AA5,2,87 2. If records are copied, any social security numbers that appear in the copied
8records are blacked out.
AB536-AA5,2,109 3. The person is not making any written or mental notes regarding any social
10security number that the person sees.".
