SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2005 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1

January 3, 2005 - Offered by Senator Carpenter.

SJR1-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the joint resolution as follows:

SJR1-SA1,1,3 1. Page 1, line 2: before "and" insert ", prohibiting either house from conducting business after midnight,".

SJR1-SA1,1,4 2. Page 3, line 1: after that line insert:

SJR1-SA1,1,5 " Section 1b. Joint rule 6m is created to read:

SJR1-SA1,1,11 Joint Rule 6m Daily sessions. Notwithstanding any rule of either house, the daily session of each house ends at midnight, unless adjourned earlier, and no house may conduct business during the hours between midnight and 7 a.m. This rule may be suspended by a majority of the members present and voting, but only for the purpose of completing consideration of the proposal that is being considered at midnight.".

SJR1-SA1,1,12 3. Page 3, line 2: delete " Section 1" and substitute "Section 1m".
