TO SENATE BILL 24

SB24-SSA1-SA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment, as follows:
SB24-SSA1-SA1,1,3 21. Page 2, line 2: delete "Within 12 Except as provided in sub. (7), within 24"
3and substitute "Within Except as provided in par. (am) or sub. (7), within 12".
SB24-SSA1-SA1,1,4 42. Page 2, line 6: after that line insert:
SB24-SSA1-SA1,1,5 5" Section 2m. 302.372 (6) (am) of the statutes is created to read:
SB24-SSA1-SA1,1,106 302.372 (6) (am) Except as provided in sub. (7), within 24 months after the
7release of a prisoner from jail, the county where the jail is located shall commence
8a civil action in circuit court to obtain a judgment for the medical expenses associated
9with the prisoner under sub. (2) (a) or be barred. The jailer shall provide any
10assistance that the county requests related to an action under this subsection.".

524 months after the release of a prisoner from jail, the amount of medical expenses
6associated with the prisoner and incurred by the county under sub. (2) (a). Any
7money obtained as the result of an action commenced under this subsection shall be
8deposited in the county treasury.".
