1995 Assembly Joint Resolution 51
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Floyd Wheeler.
Whereas, Floyd E. Wheeler was born on March 18, 1905, in Beloit and died on February 9, 1995, in Madison; and
Whereas, Mr. Wheeler was educated in the Beloit Public Schools and at Beloit College, earned an LL.B. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and did further study in the law at Harvard University; and
Whereas, he was an assistant physical director at the Beloit YMCA, taught at Evansville High School, served as an assistant to the junior dean of the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, served as a justice of the peace and practiced law, being one of the founders of the Wheeler, Van Sickle and Anderson law firm; and
Whereas, from 1932 to 1948 Mr. Wheeler was the administrator of the Wisconsin Regional Office of Price Administration; and
Whereas, Mr. Wheeler was elected to the assembly in 1952, serving the city of Madison; and
Whereas, he and other members of his firm were instrumental in founding rural electric cooperatives in this state, and he helped found neighborhood associations in Westmoreland and Sunset Village in Madison; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin recognize Floyd Wheeler's many years of public service, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Wheeler's wife, Wilma, and to his children; Jan Wheeler, Ellen Sewell, Lucinda Mack and Kalia Van der Meer.
