1995 Assembly Resolution 34
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: welcoming Chancellor Helmut Kohl to Wisconsin and wishing him well during his visit.
Whereas, Chancellor Helmut Kohl has led West Germany since 1982 and, under his dynamic leadership, the country has become increasingly influential in world affairs and prospered economically; and
Whereas, Chancellor Kohl became leader of a reunited Germany in 1990 after East German conservative parties supporting reunification were elected to power and the Berlin Wall was dismantled in 1989; and
Whereas, under Chancellor Kohl's leadership, Germany has strengthened its international trade alliance with the United States; and
Whereas, Chancellor Kohl will meet with President Clinton in Milwaukee, a community rich in German heritage, on May 23, 1996, to discuss issues of interest to Germany and the United States and to enhance the international ties between our 2 great nations; and
Whereas, Milwaukee is the American city most fitting and proper to welcome Germany's leading citizen because of the profound, positive influences that Germany has had on the city and on the State of Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That, on behalf of the citizens of this state, the members of the Wisconsin assembly extend gemuetlichkeit and best wishes to Chancellor Helmut Kohl during his visit to Milwaukee and Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
