ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Whereas, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence observe October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, by observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, seek to further greater awareness of the incidence of violence in the home, focusing on the victims of domestic violence and their children who have suffered emotional and physical abuse; and
Whereas, the achievements of those working to end domestic violence throughout the state and the nation, together with the continuing efforts of this state to address and serve victims of domestic violence, are to be celebrated; and
Whereas, through the inspiration, courage and persistence of victims of domestic violence, their children and advocates, legislation has been enacted to provide protection and services for those victims and their children; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin legislature, government officials, social services agencies, religious organizations, educational institutions, health care providers and funding agencies are joining in the effort to promote an awareness of the incidence of domestic violence and to provide services for its victims; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That October is proclaimed "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in this state.
