ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to the life and public service of Elmer C. Peterson.
Whereas, Elmer C. Peterson was born in Martin County, Minnesota, on November 30, 1892, and died on June 19, 1978; and
Whereas, he was educated in the public schools of Rockford, Illinois, and at Brown's Business College; and
Whereas, he served with the U.S. Army in a mortar battery unit during World War I; and
Whereas, he served as a town clerk, a school clerk, a town chairperson and a member of a county board; and
Whereas, Mr. Peterson was the president of the Douglas County Farmers Union from 1931 to 1938; and
Whereas, he served in the assembly from 1931 to 1938 and in the senate from 1943 to 1944; and
Whereas, he held public office continuously from 1926 to 1944; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin salute Elmer C. Peterson's many devoted years of public service and express their sorrow at his death.
