1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 61
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of David Mogilka.
Whereas, David Mogilka was born on June 30, 1915, in Milwaukee, and died on May 7, 1997, in Milwaukee; and
Whereas, he graduated from Bay View High School in Milwaukee and earned a law degree from Marquette University in 1941; and
Whereas, immediately after earning his law degree he entered the U.S. armed forces and served during World War II on the Galapagos Islands and in the Panama Canal Zone; and
Whereas, after his return from military service he worked for the Veterans Administration, the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the Internal Revenue Service and the office of the Milwaukee City Attorney; and
Whereas, Mr. Mogilka was elected to the assembly in 1956 and was reelected in 1958; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature his abilities were recognized by an appointment to the joint committee on finance; and
Whereas, after he left the assembly he returned to full-time employment at the office of the Milwaukee City Attorney; and
Whereas, he was active in many civic, religious, fraternal and benevolent societies; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature state their gratitude for David Mogilka's many decades of public service, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to David Mogilka's children: Paul, David, Gerard, Gregory, Christopher, Judith, Susan, Timothy, Cynthia and Henry.
