1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 97
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Jule Berndt.
Whereas, Jule Berndt was born on April 18, 1924, in Oshkosh and died on December 7, 1997, in River Falls; and
Whereas, he served as a navigator during World War II and flew 35 missions with the Eighth Air Force; and
Whereas, after his return from service he graduated from the University of Wisconsin and Wartburg Seminary; and
Whereas, he served as pastor of the Wellington Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee from 1953 to 1966, as pastor of Ezekial Lutheran Church in River Falls from 1966 to 1980 and as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and Hainsville Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay; and
Whereas, he was elected to the Wisconsin state assembly in 1980; and
Whereas, during his term in the assembly he served on the Aging, Women and Minorities Committee; the Children and Human Development Committee; the Commerce and Commercial Affairs Committee; and the Insurance, Cooperatives and Risk Management Committee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend Jule Berndt's public service and the pastoral care that he provided to hundreds of parishioners, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Pastor Berndt's wife, Lois; to his daughter, Leah Pasch; and to his son, Bill Berndt.
