1997 Assembly Resolution 25
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Rebecca Wallace.
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace, an exemplary employe of the Department of Natural Resources died on February 22, 1997; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace served the people of the state of Wisconsin long and faithfully in the performance of her duties; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues at the Department of Natural Resources for her commitment, energy and dedication to her staff; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace's work on the Priority Watersheds Program at the Department of Natural Resources was the basis of the Nonpoint Water Quality Act; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace's career and advancement through the ranks of the department to a position of high responsibility and visibility as a relatively young woman serve as an inspiration to professional women in the fields of environmental engineering and natural resources management; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace was dedicated to her husband and 3 children and maintained this commitment even as she faced the demands of a professional career; and
Whereas, Rebecca Wallace exhibited the rare ability to bring diverse groups of people together to work effectively toward common goals and use this ability to contribute greatly to the fulfillment of the department's mission; and
Whereas, the Natural Resources Board, at its February 1997 meeting in Madison, Wisconsin, recognized such faithful service with due respect and gratitude and established the Rebecca Wallace Memorial Award for departmental staff, to be awarded annually to the employe making the greatest contribution toward either the improvement of relationships with external partner agencies and organizations on shared environmental quality issues or the mentoring of department staff; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly salute the remarkable career of Rebecca Wallace, express their sorrow at her death and extend their condolences to her family; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Rebecca Wallace's children.
